Good Samaritan needs help unloading Haiti donations

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Time is quickly running out for a good Samaritan trying to get the truck load of donations from Lufkin-area residents to Houston before his clothing drive good deed goes to waste.

A National Guard Armory volunteer needs your help with unloading a 53-foot trailer Tuesday morning in Pearland, just 18 miles south of Houston. The trailer is packed with clothing and other supplies to be shipped to Haiti earthquake victims. Donations are steadily coming through.

As of right now, disabled war veteran and National Guard Armory volunteer Don Turner is the only person heading to Houston to unload this massive trailer.

Turner is using a donated Brookshire Brothers trailer and said he only has a one hour slot to unload the truck.

Turner said he desperately needs volunteers to help him unload the donations since he only has one good leg due to a recent knee surgery.

If you would like to help Turner, please call him at 936-676-6491.
