Sarcastic much? This may be for you

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Email at work, email at home, co-workers, businesses, clients, the boss, but making a joke or being sarcastic has gotten more than one person in email trouble.

"I don't know that I've been misunderstood," said Phillis Jolley, a realtor. "Maybe I couldn't get the point across in the way I meant it."

Michigan based Sarcasm Incorporated now offers a $1.99 program called the "SarcMark" - a punctuation to tell people your being funny or sarcastic.

"The way we communicate with social media, texting [and] email, I think that it's helpful just like everybody started using the smiley face at the end or things like that," said Christy O'Rear.

But is it something we really need? Is there a bigger waste of time.

"I think it's a great idea," said Jolley. "It's hard to interject into an email - your inflection pattern. So, you can't always come across the way you'd like to."

You attach the SarcMark on the end of the intended sentence, but, if you have to mark your email to show someone it's funny, does it have the same impact? Wise-cracking, tongue-in-cheek in emails would be marked and will never again be wasted on someone who does not understand it.
