City plants 15 donated trees

Released by the City of Jacksonville:

Fifteen 30-gallon Red Oak trees donated to the City of Jacksonville have been planted at two locations in town. The gift, from TXU Energy, was presented to the city on Oct. 8 during the Texas Municipal League's Region 15 Fall Meeting.

Ten of the 15 trees were planted recently at the Lake Jacksonville concession area. The other five were placed inside Resthaven Cemetery. Mayor Robert Haberle said the City of Jacksonville is very appreciative of TXU's contribution.

"TXU Energy is making an effort to be a good corporate citizen by helping people find ways to be more energy efficient and more earth conscience, and this gift goes a long way towards improving the landscape of Jacksonville's parks," Haberle said. "This is a great gesture by TXU, and the city is very grateful for their generous donation."

According to the mayor, Colette Vallot, senior manager of community relations for TXU, will also be traveling to Jacksonville in the next future to present a plaque which will be placed near the newly transplanted trees.
