Van coach steps down

By Ryan Peterson - bio | email

VAN, TEXAS (KLTV) -  An East Texas community that loves it's football is saying goodbye to a long time coach.   Athletic director and head football coach Brady Pennington resigned Wednesday to accept a job at New Caney Porter as assistant head football coach and quarterbacks coach.

Pennington told me on the phone today that he's sad, excited and scared.  He spent 24 years at Van, the last eight as head coach.

"It's a tremendous opportunity," said Pennington.

Pennington added that Van defensive coordinator Josh Potter will take over at interim athletic director.
