EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - A Tornado Watch has been issued across East Texas until 10pm Wednesday night. With that watch, calls from East Texans have come in, reporting several sightings of tornadoes on the ground. That said, the tornado service has not yet confirmed any tornadoes.

Along with potential tornadoes in East Texas, some communities, like New London, saw hail. You can see some of the viewer-submitted photos to the right. To see more click here

The following was released by Julie Seymore with the City of Canton:

A line of thunderstorms passed through Canton at appx. 5:06 p.m. this evening. Fire Chief Charles Bazhaw reported high winds and tornadic activity damaged several businesses in the Interstate 20/Highway 19 area.   One 18-wheeler overturned on the south service road to I-20.  No injuries were reported.   Interstate 20 is closed due to downed transmission lines and debris.  Traffic is diverted from I-20 via Highway 64 and Highway 17.  Oncor is on scene working to clear the downed lines.  Atmos Energy is checking area businesses for gas leaks.    

Chevron is the most heavily damaged business.  Other damaged businesses include Juanita's Restaurant, Two Senioritas Restaurant, Dairy Queen, Days Inn, Shell station, Circle K, and McDonald's. 

Canton Police Department, Van Zandt County Sheriff's Department, Canton Fire Department, South Van Zandt Volunteer Fire Department, Edgewood Volunteer Department and Champion EMS responded to the emergency.  City of Canton Public Works crews are working to clear debris. 

A report just came in that 4 homes were leveled South of I-20 near FM 1255 (east of Canton) with entrapments.  Responders are en route.
