Congregation meets after church burned

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - In Athens, church members did not let fear stop their faith. Grace Community Church members held their services outside their building, which was gutted by an arsonist last Monday. Right now, damages to the church are estimated at half a million dollars, but church members say this criminal act will not stop them.

"This building is just that, it's a building," said Pastor Brian Brandt. "It can be replaced, as they have been for centuries, but the true foundation is the people. The hope is in Jesus Christ. The hope is never in a building. We're not done at all."

Grace Community says other churches and even businesses have offered spaces for them to hold worship while they rebuild.
