Fill the Banks, huge success

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - They asked East Texans to fill the banks, donating food and blood to those in need, and, as always, you responded with flying colors.

In barrels filled with canned and boxed food items, firemen loaded up the food headed for the East Texas Food Bank. The donations have been piling up at a Tyler fire station, who was running out of storage from the massive community response.

"We're glad to be a part of it, you know, we're a small part of it," said Captain David Admire, with the Tyler Fire Department. "The people who are donating deserve the credit, obviously. It's going to people in need and can help out others, you know. With the economic times that there are, it's always good people are still willing to help out."

You still have until Sunday to drop off food items or donate blood. Food Bank representatives say the community is responsible for 2,700 pounds of donated food.
