2 arrested in record breaking cocaine seizure

On Wednesday 01/13/10 Henderson County Sheriffs Office Drug Enforcement Unit Investigators Ronny Halbert, David Faught, Darrell Waller, and Deputy Billy Valentine conducted a traffic stop on State Highway 31 in Athens.

Investigators learned the vehicle was traveling from Austin to Tyler at the time of the stop.

Investigators conducted a search of a 2005 Dodge Durango operated by Rafael Nunez. Investigators located approximately three pounds of cocaine hidden inside the vehicle. The traffic stop yielded the largest known cocaine seizure from a vehicle in Henderson County.

Investigators arrested Rafael Nunez and Anacleto Soto-Soto for Manufacture/Delivery of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 over 400 grams. Nunez and Soto-Soto were transported to the Henderson County Justice Center where they were booked into jail for the delivery charges. Federal Detainers were placed on both Nunez and Soto-Soto at the Henderson County Jail. Nunez and Soto-Soto are awaiting arraignment.

This case will be filed with the Henderson County District Attorney's office for prosecution.
