Their parents told them when they got married that it wouldn't last.
For Mo and Ada Wells, that was 80 years ago.
Sunday, the members of their Winnsboro area church came by to congratulate them on 80 years of marriage. And the couple graciously shared some of their secrets to long marriage.
They married in 1923 in a small ceremony at the Dallas County Courthouse, and they never looked back.
Mo was 18, Ada was 14.
Through the depression, the wars and all of the changes of the 20th century, they kept together, and although they've had their fights along the way, divorce was never an option.
According to limited state records it's unofficially the oldest anniversary in Texas.
And it even got noticed by the nations highest official in Washington in a letter from President Bush.
