Smith County deputy arrested

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - According to Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith, one of his deputies has been arrested Wednesday night, and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to an investigation done by the Texas Rangers, Deputy Terry Lindsey used excessive force when arresting Joshua Barnes at a party at Lindsey's home. Barnes was arrested for the stabbing death of James Brandon Lee at that home.

Lindsey has been fired.
