LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - According to police records, Reginald Dewayne Staten, 24, has a lengthy arrest history for numerous offenses. But, Longview police want him on charges of sexual assault of a child, and failing to register as a sex offender.

"We are looking for him," said Kevin Brownlee. "We consider him to be a danger to the community we are searching for him."

He has had numerous previous addresses, all of which police have searched, as well as familiar hangouts.

"We know he's around Longview," said Brownlee. "We have information he's around Longview. People have spotted him."

Police actually chased Staten down in the Niblick Road area where he was staying at a nearby residence, but he disappeared. What is particularly disturbing about the find is that his residence is only a mile away from a school zone.

"This guy, Mr. Staten, he hasn't complied with any of his requirements," said Brownlee. "He's moved and left without notifying anybody."

His disappearance has some worried where he will show up next.

"I am absolutely just terrified," said Penny Goldsby, a Longview resident. "I mean, we have children going to school here. We're in and out here going to church."

"He has no vehicle, no work, that we know of, so we're missing those clues to find him," said Brownlee. "But, if somebody is crashing out a house next door to you that's wanted by police for sexually abusing children, you sure want to know about it, so there's and urgency. We need to know where he's at, lay hands on him and put him in jail."

Police want Staten in custody before he has a chance to be a repeat offender. Reginald Staten is 5'8" tall, weighing about 245 pounds. He has numerous tattoos on the back of his arms and left leg.
