TYLER, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas man watched his home burn down Friday, just moments after helping two men survive a car crash.
Ozlle Jett forgot he left a skillet on his stove when he went outside to help two strangers out of their wrecked truck. When he turned around he saw smoke, and minutes later, the house was engulfed in flames.
Saturday, Jett returned home, searching for any personal items he could salvage. The American Red Cross in Tyler has put him up in a hotel for a few days and will assist him while he rebuilds.
"It's bad whenever you lose everything you got, and start all over again," said Jett. "But, people have been helping me out and I appreciate whatever they do for me."
We have been flooded with emails and calls asking how to help Mr. Jett so here's how.
If you'd like to send any monetary donations, clothes, or food for his dog, send them to County Road 486, Box 6060 Tyler, Texas 75706. Or, you can reach Jett directly at 903-593-2874.
