SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Henderson County Sheriff's Department has identified the burned body found in a field last week as James David Corey, 35.
Sheriff Ray Nutt said it appeared the body has been out on the field for several days before its discovery. A missing persons report was filed with the Sheriffs Department Monday. Nutt says that Corey's body was located Thursday afternoon in the field not far from County Road 3911 north of Athens in Henderson County.
Authorities do a have a person of interest, but no arrests have been made at this time.
The cause of Corey's death is still under investigation.
