He's trained to protect and serve, and "Been" the patrol dog proved that when he stopped some suspects from advancing on his partner during a drug bust Tuesday.
Now, Been's the pride and joy of Smith County Constable Frank Creath's office. So far, he's the only certified patrol dog in East Texas. Before joining the local force eight months ago, Been worked with a secret service trainer.
So far, he's the only Smith County canine trained in both officer protection and felony apprehension.
He can track, hunt, and catch individuals, whereas a human can't do that," says Constable Creath. "So he's just invaluable as far as a patrol officer is concern."
