TYLER, TX (KLTV) - She is a small town girl who loves music and plays in the band, but what Katie, 14, would like more than anything is to find a forever family to call her own.
An afternoon at Bless Your Art tested me and Katie's creative side. The 14-year-old is in the 8th grade and is very involved in the band. She especially enjoys participating in the high school marching band which she tried out for and was accepted, even though she is only in middle school. And, in the classroom, Katie is a bright student.
"My favorite is math, reading and social studies and band of course," said Katie. "And, my least favorite is science because I have trouble with that."
Katie will also need assistance from her parents to help keep her on task and ensure that she is staying on target at school. The outgoing teen is interested in playing basketball and hopes to learn how to play tennis one day. Katie says she would like to become a lawyer but if that doesn't work out then she might take a completely different route.
"[I might be] a vet because you take care of animals and I love animals," said Katie.
And, like most teenage girls, she loves to talk on the phone and go to the movies. She especially likes the Twilight series! Katie also says she is a small town girl.
"Every now and then, at least, [we could] have a game night and go to church sometimes," said Katie.
And, she would love to go on some family trips to places like Sea World. Katie has been in the foster care system for several years and is ready to try and find a forever home.
"I'm really excited but my fears of it is that it's just not going to work out like my other two did," said Katie.
She is somewhat apprehensive about what the future will bring, but hopes that she can have both a mom and a dad - a forever family that can show her the gift of love.
