Man attacks girlfriend with knife says sheriff

NACOGDOCHES, TX - Aggravated Assault charges were filed last week against Edmond J. Griffin following his attack on his live-in girlfriend with a knife and stabbing or cutting her in the neck, chest and abdomen. The victim, Lorine Caraway, 50, fled her residence where the attach began and entered a neighboring residence in an attempt to get away from the suspect. Griffin then forced his way into that residence in pursuit of the victim. As a result of that intrusion, Griffin was charged with Burglary with Intent to Commit Assault. Neighbors fought off Griffin with a baseball bat, resulting in injuries that required him to be hospitalized overnight. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest and was charges with that offense, as well. Griffin was released from Memorial Hospital and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail on Christmas eve. Griffin remains confined in jail on the following charges:

Burglary of a Habitation With INTENT TO COMMIT ASSAULT F1 $100,000.00 bond

Aggravated ASSAULT W/WEAPON F1 $100,000.00 bond

Possession of Controlled Substance (PCP) F2 $100,000.00 bond

His victim was transported to Memorial Hospital where she remains hospitalized in critical condition.
