GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Many parts of East Texas are still reeling from Wednesday night's tornadoes. One of the hardest hit areas was Longview, particularly the Page Road area. The Twister left one family without a roof over their heads, but  they are still counting their blessings.

The home of Bill and Joyce Silvertooth was demolished by the tornado but somehow they survived. "Fortunately, we didn't get a scratch; the Lord was with us and we just praise the Lord,"said Bill Silvertooth.

Bill and Joyce were watching television when the wind started to pick up.

"I had just gotten up and walked over to the patio door, just to look out to see what was going on. As I stuck my head out the patio door, everything just started swirling. I said, 'Joyce let's get into the shelter,' so we ran into the utility room, got in between the freezer the dresser and crouched down. The tornado didn't last long, fifteen seconds is all it took and we could hear the roof ripping off," said Mr. Silvertooth.

The tornado destroyed their barn and storage area leaving memories scattered throughout their backyard.

"I bought this house for $12,000 dollars back in 1969 and I raised my kids here. It's hard to smile during this time but blessings are here,"said Joyce Silvertooth.

Despite the devastation, the Silvertooth's have something to reflect on this Christmas, "Our blessing from God. Being alive," said the Silvertooth's.

Fortunately, the Silvertooth's did have homeowners insurance. They say without the help from their community, neighbors, and friends, they don't know how they would clean up the mess.
