HENDERSON, TX (KLTV) - It is the time of year when children are making out their list to Santa Claus and planning family gatherings, but what if you didn't have a family to call your own?

It is a reality for foster children here in East Texas. But, a local business is looking to bring a little cheer to the children who need it most.

Laughter, joy and the sound of bright colored paper tearing fill the air as nine children celebrate a very merry Christmas a little bit early. And, it's all thanks to some of Santa's little elves who found inspiration by tuning into our station.

"We all watch the news and have seen the Gift of Love being presented which is actually a great way to get these kids out into the community because it's not something that you think about," said Tammy Sanders, with Cellular One.

Cellular One employees got together to bring a little extra Christmas cheer to several of the kids featured in our Gift of Love segment.

The Christmas party took place at the Henderson location, and the fun didn't stop there. The Cellular One stores in Jacksonville, Carthage and Nacogdoches also held similar celebrations.

"Even though these kids don't have a family yet of their own, they got to have just a little extra special attention," said Lori Sutton-White, an intensive adoption coordinator.

In all, 50 employees across the East Texas area pitched in for the special holiday treat. It was a treat that brought a smile to many. Like Kindall, and he's a tough one to crack.

"Kindall, for example, had very detailed instructions on what he wanted Santa Claus to bring," said Sutton-White. "And, the employees went out and graciously tricks on his bike. It was worth it just to see the smile come across his face."

"To see the smiles on the kid's faces made our hearts feel great," said Sanders.

Especially at a time of year when family is at the front of each child's mind.

"Being in foster care, sometimes people take for granted that they have everything they need," said Sutton-White. "But there's always the opportunity to give them something they want. And it's nice when they haven't always had happy memories at Christmas."

They are memories that can be changed to ones of joy especially when a family chooses to show one of these children the gift of love this Christmas season. Cellular One says they hope to continue these parties next year and as long as there is a need.

And of course, the one gift the children want the most for Christmas is a forever family.
