MINEOLA, TX (KLTV) - He fought a brave battle for months before falling to a deadly disease and Tuesday friends and family gathered to remember Shannon Love.
In Mineola it was standing room only as community members and area branches of law enforcement came to pay their respects. A photo montage showcased Love's life from a young boy to his final days still fighting Hodgkin's Lymphoma. His Wood County family lined the walls remembering their co worker and friend.
"It's obviously a massive loss to our department," said Sergeant Kilan Polk, with the Wood County Sheriff's Department. "Deputy Love was a very dedicated and he was very good at his job."
"Anytime something like this occurs around the general public, they care, they really do, and just the outpouring of support for law enforcement especially for Shannon is what it's all about," said Sheriff Bill Wansley, with Wood County.
Love's family is asking, in lieu of flowers, people donate to any City National Bank in Hawkins, Winnsboro, Sulphur Springs, or Quitman.
