Texas vs. Alabama Matchup - Best QB

KLTV is teaming with Raycom sister station WSFA in Montgomery, Alabama, and debating the biggest 11 points entering the BCS Championship game on January 7th...and each day, we will present a new debate point.

KLTV/Texas is represented by Sports Director Ryan Peterson, and Jeff Shearer, Sports Director at WSFA will represent the Crimson Tide...

Topic #2: Who has the best quarterback?

Ryan says... Colt McCoy is by far the better quarterback in the BCS title game.  The numbers back it up.  McCoy has won more games than any quarterback in college football history (45-and-7).  McCoy has led Texas to four ten win seasons.  His 27 touchdowns this season and 3500 yards passing are considered low for his career.  Most quarterbacks would love to have those numbers in a good year.  McCoy puts up big numbers and wins games.

Jeff says...Okay, we're starting off with a toughie, I see. Taking nothing away from Colt McCoy - after all, he's the winningest quarterback in major college football history - but Alabama's QB is the "Real McElroy" - and a Texas native, to boot.  Greg McElroy even outplayed highly-acclaimed Tim Tebow in the SEC Championship game.  After that performance, Greg's confidence is off the charts heading to Pasadena.
