WANTED: Men - KLTV.com - Tyler, Longview, Jacksonville |ETX News

Released by Susan Gutherie with the City of Tyler:

TYLER, TX - Each week, the Tyler Senior Center hosts a Friday night dance that is attended by nearly 100 local seniors. But there is one thing missing. No, it is not great music that is missing. There is definitely superb music provided by such local bands as Hoss Huggins, the Double Take Band and Tom Mallory & the Texas Swingers.

The crowd is also good. The number of dancers that come out for this weekly event grows as large as 100 on any given Friday night. It is also great fun and a good chance to socialize and get some exercise.

So what is missing? Men.

"We definitely have a man shortage," shared Kay Odom, director of the Senior Center. "The number of ladies attending the dances far outnumbers the men. The men who do attend take turns dancing with the ladies; but it sure would be nice to have a few more men attend."

When asked what one thing she would like for the Senior Center for Christmas, the resounding answer was, "more men at our dances"!

The cost of entry is $5 per person to offset the cost of the band. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the band starts at 7 p.m. Please call the Senior Center at (903) 597-0781 to verify dates and times as the schedule is adjusted during the holiday season.
