Released by the Longview Police Department:

LONGVIEW, TX - On December 15, 2009 at around 4:48 p.m., a maintenance person at the Summer Green Apartments at 110 East Hawkins Parkway called 9-1-1 and reported that a man wearing gloves and a hoodie was trying to break into a resident's apartment.

As officers responded to the apartments, the caller informed dispatchers that an alert neighbor had seen the suspect remove a window screen and attempt to crawl into the window of a nearby apartment. The maintenance person then went to the apartment, observed the suspect and called police

Officers arrived within two minutes and located the suspect, who was trying to walk away from the location. The suspect was identified as Laderrian Louis Armstrong and was found to have a knife and a large rock in his pockets. Armstrong was detained by officers while the witnesses identified him as the person they had seen attempting to climb into the window.

Armstrong arrested and booked into the Gregg County Jail. He was charged with burglary of a habitation, a second degree felony.
