LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV)- A group of 5th and 6th graders braved cold temperatures Sunday night  to portray the true meaning of Christmas.

The children at First Baptist Church of Longview presented a living Nativity scene.

They even had real live animals. Along with the Nativity Christmas story, folks also got to make ornaments and Christmas crafts.

"The Living Nativity is important because it tells the true meaning of Christmas. It's not just about presents and Santa; it's really about Jesus. The best part about the skit is that so many people just look at us and smile. They're happy. It might be cold, but it's the thought that counts to come out and see us," said 6th grader Lauren Fields.

The First Baptist Church even had a petting zoo for kids. They had all kinds animals from miniature donkeys to pot bellied pigs.
