George Foreman Visits TJC

By Ryan Peterson - bio | email

TYLER, TEXAS (KLTV) -

He was once the heavyweight champion of the world and down right scary.  Now George Foreman is like a big teddy bear.   The former boxing great and Olympic gold medalist spoke at Tyler Junior College Friday.  Foreman talked about his life in boxing, the good and bad.

He had the crowd laughing out loud during most of the afternoon.  Foreman has been a television star, a preacher and the creator of the 'George Foreman Grill.'  But he's also a funny man. I asked if he'd want to take up stand up comedy because he's so funny.

"Oh really?" Foreman laughed.  "That's what they said about me boxing  too. I was boxing, they said he's pretty funny, that's not boxing. I've had a good life, it's people that I have fun with and I've met some funny people."

After speaking with the audience, Foreman signed his book 'Knockout Entrepreneur.'  He says he visited TJC because he's impressed by what they're doing for young people.
