LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - He has rushed to help our troops when they need him the most, and now, an East Texas medic is back home. Private First Class, Trey Hammett of Hallsville, arrived to a celebratory crowd in Longview. PFC Hammett has been serving as a medic in Afghanistan for the past seven months. Hammett gave his thoughts on the President's decision to send more troops to help in Afghanistan.

"They've obviously got a plan," said Hammett. "Whatever plan they've got for another 30,000 troops coming in I guess we'll find out. I'll be coming home in May for good so, I don't know if that will effect me or not so I guess we'll just have to wait and see."

PFC Hammett says no matter what the President's decision is, he is willing to serve. Luckily, while he's home, he will get to celebrate his 21st birthday with his family.
