Founder's drive wraps up for Lindale ISD

Released by Maya Bethany with the LISD Education Foundation:

LINDALE, TX - The Lindale ISD Education Foundation's Founder's Drive ended on a positive note for the young organization.  In its second year of establishment, the Foundation wrapped up its first major fundraising campaign with $105,000 in pledges.

To date, the Foundation has taken in more than $165,000 in donations and revenue in its first two years combined.  The Foundation had initially set a goal to raise $150,000 during the Founders' Drive Campaign.

"We set a very ambitious goal for our Founders' Drive and came up short," LISD Education Foundation President John Driver said.  "We were not blessed with the best of economic times to try and raise money but lots of people still stepped forward and by donating to the Foundation have said they believe in what we are doing and want to be a part of this effort"

The Lindale ISD Education Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that awards grants to teachers to fund innovative educational programs and activities which either have not been funded or have been under-funded by the normal operating budget.

In November, the Foundation awarded more than $8,000 in its first round of grants to 13 LISD teachers.  The grants will fund eight new classroom projects.  The Foundation will fund a much larger amount of grants in the spring.  Plans are already being made for next year's annual campaign.

"Every day we are getting a chance to tell more people about what the Foundation is doing and plans to do for the children and teachers of the Lindale ISD," Driver said.  "This is an on-going experience.  I am very encouraged by the response that we received this year and believe that it will get better each and every year.  My thanks to all the businesses, clubs, and individuals who made a donation to the Foundation."
