The Quick Charger: "Does It Work?"

Few things have changed our lives like the cell phone. Could be a good change, could be a bad one. But love 'em or hate 'em.. We need them to be working when we need them.

In this "Does It Work?" report, we have a neat little product that promises to never leave your phone without a charge. Ah... but "Does It Work?"

The Quick Charger, charges your phone instantly using 4 AAA batteries. The makers say this little product means "no more missed calls"... ever.

We tried it first on a Motorola flip-phone.  The product comes with attachments that fit Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and Ericson phones.  But, it's made clear on the box that it works with most phones of those brands.  One end of each attachment fits the quick charger.  The other end fits the phone.

When we turned on the Motorola... it worked.  In fact, it started charging up the phone's battery.

Next we tried a couple of Nokia phones.  The Quick Charger didn't work with either one.

Finally, we found an Ericsson phone to test.  When we plugged in the Quick Charger we initially got power to the phone, but each time it flashed the words "battery low" and the phone went dead.  However, the Ericsson did begin charging up.  After about 15 minutes, we were able to make a short phone call with the Ericsson.  It worked.

The Quick Charger is up front about its hit and miss compatibility, saying it works with most phones listed on the box. But bottom line is, you have no way of knowing if it will work with your phone, until you've already spent the money.

"Does It Work?" We give the Quick Charger A "maybe".
