TYLER, TX (KLTV) - For 25 years Daryl Sprout has entertained with...snakes. And, you can catch his show this weekend at the Discovery Science Center's annex.

"I am the world's only stand-up comic snake handling magician," said Sprout. "I am the world's only prestidigitating herpetological humorist."

He also knows a lot of...big words. But it's not big words that make kids scream. It is one or several of the...snakes.

"The kids love me," said Sprout. "In fact, two, 12-year-old kids think I'm a rock star. But it is not as easy as it looks. Their parents are at the back, cringing a little bit. They're only here because their parents dragged them here. I specialize in the truly petrified and usually the ones that are cringing and that sort of thing, but in the show they've laughed enough times and they've seen that what they were laughing at was the very things they were afraid of...short and fat is bad...and, by the end, they're saying, 'Well, maybe it's not so scary after all.' Now, normally the most nervous place is with me down here at the eating end."

So, Sprout is a kind of doctor who cures fear with laughter and a show like his has got to have a grand finally.

"And, in closing, I'm here to tell you...you've just met the only person you're ever likely to meet...who actually owns a 50-foot snake," said Sprout to the crowd.

But, if you want to see what it is, you'll just have to pull on your big boy pants and go see his show.

If you want to go, performances are Saturday at 11am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm, and Sunday at 1:30pm and 3:30pm at the Discovery Center in Tyler.
