TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Perhaps the most out-spoken candidate running for Texas governor is in East Texas this weekend. Kinky Friedman was at the Tyler Public Library Friday for a holiday meet and greet and book signing. The event was hosted by the Tyler Public Library and the Literacy Council of Tyler.

Friedman read from his newest book, Heros of a Texas Childhood. He signed autographs and answered audience questions. And, when asked why he should be the next governor, he had an answer.

"I think tea baggers to radical left wingers can all agree on that - right or left - that the power of the people has diminished, and on the strength of that they need a voice, and I want to be part of that voice," said Friedman. "No toll roads also."

You can catch up with Friedman Saturday. He will sign books at the Texas Store on Highway 69 in Bullard, from 12pm-2pm.
