LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - For the Bennefield family, Thanksgiving was not complete until one member of their family was home. Tatum native 21 year old Marine Lance Corporal Taylor Bennefield has been on the front lines in Afghanistan for seven months.
"Just having your family home means the world. To see him home and to see people there to support him, and happy that he's home, it's not complete until he's here. He's a big part of our family and we miss him" said Taylor's mother Melissa Bennefield.
"I'm very proud of him, and we're just glad and thankful that he's back in Texas and safe at the moment," said grandfather Jerry Taylor.
Bennefield has seen his share of action as a convoy humvee driver.
"We're all trying to get home. But for those who can't we try to do something for each other," Taylor said. "This is amazing, it just shows how much they care."
Taylor as welcomed by family, friends and dozens of members of the group "Welcome Home, Soldier.
