LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - While retailers are enjoying a good season of holiday shopping sales, another business is booming as well, movie theatres. The holidays bring a flurry of new films, trying to cash in on holiday spending. In spite of economic issues, movie goers in Longview have been coming out in droves.

"That's one of the things my family and I do together we get together and like to watch movies so we go out and that's our entertainment," says Longview movie-goer Tammy Howard, "That's the time we like to get out and spend together."

Hollywood Theatres tells us they posted record sales the last week in November. At $8.50 a ticket, popcorn, candy, a family of 4 could easily spend 50 or 60 dollars.

"Even also there's matinees, so people that are really on a tight crunch they can go to the matinees, but we go just about anytime" Howard says.

The overwhelming favorite among movie goers we talked with at Carmike Theatres and Hollywood Theatres was the film New Moon.
