State Investigating Whether Private Maintenance Company Dropped the Ball on Icy Days

The state is investigating a private maintenance company that some feel didn't live up to its job this week.  It is under contract to keep highways in North Texas sanded in an ice storm.

VMS Incorporated out of Virginia was responsible for keeping 65 miles of Interstate 20 treated when the sleet storm arrived Monday. But a TxDOT director says it doesn't appear VMS had enough crews for the job.

State crews had to pick up some of the slack, and VMS could be billed for the overtime... plus there is mention of possible fines.
