2-year-old tests positive for meth, 3 arrested

TITUS COUNTY, TX - On Tuesday, November 10, 2009 patrol deputies responded to a 911 call that was received from the Croley residence located in the 3200 block of Farm Road 2152 in Titus County, Texas. Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with Jessica Croley who reported that she was assaulted by Michael Croley, her husband, and Patricia Croley, her mother-in-law. Deputies learned that Michael and Jessica Croley's two year old son had been injured during the physical altercation between Jessica and Patricia Croley. Jessica Croley was holding the child, when the physical altercation begins. The child was struck in the face during the altercation. The child's right eye was red and swollen. The child also sustained a cut next to his right eye. After the patrol deputies conducted their investigation they arrested Patricia Croley for Injury to a Child (Texas Penal Code Section 22.04). Michael Croley was also arrested for a misdemeanor assault charge.

Patrol deputies notified Child Protective Services of the situation. A Child Protective Services Investigator responded to the scene. The two year old child along with his two school aged siblings was removed from the home by Child Protective Services and placed into foster care. Child Protective Services required Michael Croley, Jessica Croley, Patricia Croley, and the children to be drug tested. Child Protective Services later reported to the Titus County Sheriff's Office that Michael Croley, Jessica Croley, and their two year old child's drug test results were positive for methamphetamines.

The Titus County Sheriff's Office filed charges against Jessica and Michael Croley for Endangering a Child (Texas Penal Code Section 22.041(c). Arrest warrants were obtained for Jessica and Michael Croley. Endangering a Child is a State Jail Felony punishable by up to two years incarceration in a state jail facility and a fine up to ten thousand dollars. Michael Croley turned himself into authorities on Friday, November 20, 2009. Jessica Croley turned herself into authorities on Monday, November 23, 2009. Bond was set at $20,000 for both Michael and Jessica Croley.
