The man accused of being the South Tyler rapist was arraigned in a Smith County courtroom Thursday afternoon. Felix Alberto Kauffman pled not guilty to nine charges in front of 7th District Judge, Kerry Russell. Kauffman has been charged with two aggravated sexual assault charges, and seven burglary of a habitations with intent to commit sexual assault. Each of Kauffman's charges carries a penalty of 5 to 99 years in prison. His case is set to go before grand jury.
