Tyler Police investigating morning shootout at S. Broadway Avenue

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Sunday morning around 3:15, Tyler Police responded to the intersection of South Broadway Ave. and 4th Street after receiving a report of several people fighting and shooting at each other in the roadway. 

While on the way to the scene, Tyler Police dispatchers notified officers that the suspect cars were a white vehicle and an older model silver Cadillac.  Both were occupied by unknown males.  Police say the males got out of their cars while at the intersection and began fighting and shooting at each other. 

Moments later, officers arrived and identified the crime scene in the left (northbound) turn lane of 100 West 5th Street, right off Broadway.  At this same time Tyler Police dispatchers were informed that an man with a gunshot wound had arrived at the East Texas Medical Center emergency room.  Additional officers responded to ETMC and briefly spoke with the man, identified as 23 year old, Lekeldrick Frater.  Frater was taken to surgery with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
