The following is a letter released by David Stein announcing his withdrawal from the County Commissioner, Precinct #2 race:
With mixed emotion, I am withdrawing myself from the race and will not pursue the office of County Commissioner, Precinct #2. I enjoyed serving in that capacity from May 2005 through December 2006 but it comes down to a matter of family and time. While the office of Commissioner is not a full time job, what I am involved in now requires that full time attention and has not allowed me the adequate time to build an effective campaign. Even if successful in a campaign, the current demands might not allow me the adequate time as an effective elected official. My first responsibility is to take care of my family and that means continuing in a full-time business capacity. I will continue involvement in local politics along with community and non-profit volunteering as a Board Member for United Way of Tyler/Smith County, Non-Profit Development Center, Relay for Life, East Texas Challenge, and Chamber of Commerce Committees.
