Proud day for Texas East Gymnastics

TYLER, TEXAS (KLTV) -   Ttwo young ladies from Texas East Gymnastics in Tyler received five year scholarships today.  Morgan Key will attend the University of Alaska.  Alaina Johnson will go to Florida. Key and Johnson are great friends, but joked they wanted to be as far away from each other as possible.  Mission accomplished.

"Yeah, that was the goal," said Key with a laugh.  "I'm really close to Alaina, I love her to death. But, that's our goal that we wanted to achieve, so we got it."

Johnson, a member of the U.S. National team, is part of a highly touted recruiting class by the Gators.  There's a lot of pressure to produce and she expects to do so.

"Florida has never won NCAA championships and hopefully we can make that happen when we get there," said Johnson.

She added that she's really pumped about going to football games.  She got to meet Heisman winner Tim Tebow, while visiting the Florida campus.
