WebXtra: Getting veterans off the streets and into workplace

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The East Texas Workforce Solutions Center in Tyler opened it's doors today to all veterans either recently returning from a deployment, or longtime veterans simply looking for work.

According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, veterans account for as many as 25 percent of America's homeless population. However, employers say that veterans make great employees, because they are disciplined and understand how to work with others.

Once veterans return from the battle zone, and have a chance to once again re-enter society, job experts say they should get in touch with organizations like the East Texas Workforce Solutions Center, because despite the bleak economy and high unemployment rate, there are jobs available, and often, veterans are considered first before others, because of their service.
