LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - J.L. Everhart Primary Magnet School and Longview ISD have launched the self-help children's book titled, "Who cares? I do."

J.L. Everhart Magnet School student's couldn't be prouder of launching their own book.

"This book is about caring for one another and this book inspires me and anybody else that reads this book to show anyone they can care," said Key'von'tae Shaw, a third grader.

Key'von'tae just might be the most impressive third grader, I've ever met. It was he and his classmates, who came up with real life kid scenarios for the book.

"We helped one another, to figure out what we need to write," said Key'von'tae. "We went through everything we could to get this book through. We did it without frustration, no peer pressure, we just went right to it and we did the best we could."

With help from the books illustrator, Trevor Romain, the students got see their ideas come to life.

"You know kids are great," said Romain. "They're so honest and their just real. So, to be able to do something that was just, in essence, so pure was a wonderful project for me."

The book is available in English, Spanish and gives advice on how handle tough situations like bullying.

"I have been bullied, but I stand up for myself, and I say, 'If you try to bully me, well you better back off,'" said Key'von'tae. "If a person is getting bullied you say stop, and stand beside them. Even though, you don't feel like you can do it, you can always do it, if you set your heart and your mind to it. You need to take responsibility for your actions, instead of just letting anybody else tell. You what you need to do. You need to do it right now, right here, and you need to learn!"

It is good, caring, advice spoken by like a champion.

"Who cares? I do," is sold at Baron's Book Store in Longview. You can also get it on-line. For more information contact Longview ISD.
