Veteran’s Day will be celebrated this Wednesday, November 11th. We are coming off a weekend of sporting events and TV coverage designed to honor those that have served our country. It made for good TV, but don’t be fooled into thinking that watching Veteran’s Day activities is enough. Many of us will sit back and take in all the remembrances, celebrations, even parades but there is nothing that says thank you for your service to America more than a personal touch. We all know veterans and Veteran’s Day is one day that we can pause and honor them. Be aggressive and assertive and even creative and give thanks to those veterans in our midst. From World War 2 to our current conflicts our veterans are a special breed. The America Red Cross also has created a campaign to honor current military servicemen and women. It is called Holiday Mail for Heroes and it is as simple as sending a holiday greeting card to active military personnel. Again, this is a truly effective way to reach out and say thank you – I am thinking of you and I am praying for you. You can find the details of Holiday Mail for Heroes on our website – KLTV.com. Recognizing those who have stepped up to serve America is the least we can do on Veteran’s Day and everyday and it will make for a Better East Texas.
