TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The first of many observances to honor the nations military veterans this week, is held in Tyler.
Veterans and families came out to American Legion post 12 for Veterans Appreciation Day. Congressman Louie Gohmert and State Representative Leo Berman were on hand to pass out awards.
Veterans of all branches were recognized, and a moment of silence was observed for victims of the Fort Hood shootings. Among those who were honored were 3 World War Two vets who were awarded the bronze star for bravery.
The observance was also attended by several members of the patriot guard riders, who were given awards for their efforts to honor returning veterans.
