TYLER, TX - David K. Teegarden, MD, president and chief medical officer, Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics, and past president of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association, presided over the 66th meeting of the Association October 29-31 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Teegarden served as the Association's president for two years, concluding his tenure with the meeting in Scottsdale.
During the meeting, he served as moderator for the general session, addressed the Family Medicine session regarding "Current Pressures Affecting Medical Practice in 2009" and served as host of the President's Gala - The Doctors Mayo Society Dinner and Program.
Dr. Teegarden received his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He completed his internal medicine residency at Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education and his gastroenterology fellowship at Mayo and Baylor University Medical Center.
Following his medical training, Dr. Teegarden served in the U.S. Army as Chief of Gastroenterology for the Institute for Surgical Research at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, where he received the Army Commendation Medal.
He completed a Master's Degree at the University of Texas at Dallas school of Management. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UT Southwestern Medical School and Adjunct Professor at UT Dallas school of Management. Dr. Teegarden also serves as President of the Trinity Clinic.
