Gregg County law enforcement seek robber

Released by the Mike Claxton with the Gregg County Sheriff's Office:

GREGG COUNTY, TX - Shortly after 9:00 am Friday morning, a 911 call was made to the Sheriff's office reporting a robbery from a business at 4630 North US 259. Deputies were sent to that location and a search was initiated for a fleeing suspect.  The suspect managed to leave the area without being found.

Deputies arrived within minutes and found that the business owner had been assaulted by the suspect after the armed suspect gained entry into the business. The victim was hit in the upper body with a long gun that was in the business. "Initial reports indicate that the suspect was armed with a handgun", Captain Mike Claxton said.  The victim received medical treatment at an area hospital.

"A citizen report of a man seen running South from the business in the direction of Henderson Lane whom matched the description of the suspect was investigated," Claxton said.  A perimeter of law enforcement personnel from the Sheriff's office, Longview Police, Texas Highway Patrol and the Precinct 1 Constables office locked down an area while Sheriff and Police K9's searched the area. "The K9 track failed to materialize and the area was released around 10: 45 am," Claxton said. Other businesses nearby including a child daycare center were on lockdown as well.

Investigators continue to work the scene and are interviewing the victims. "Perhaps other information can be developed through this process," Claxton said.  Meanwhile we continue to look for the white male suspect last seen wearing an orange hoodie and black colored jeans.

Anyone with information about this crime can call investigators at 903-236-8400 or 903 236-STOP).

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>
