LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - LeTourneau University dedicates their new Paul and Betty Abbott Aviation Center. East Texans gathered at the East Texas Regional Airport for the dedication ceremony.

The remodeled 55,000 square foot aviation facility will bring LeTourneau's School of Aeronautical Science entirely into one location. LeTourneau aviation students showed off the Loening Trophy (It's the Heisman trophy of aviation). The students were named the top collegiate flight program in the country.

"Today is celebrating a great building but it is also celebrating students who have been recognized as the leading aviation program in the country," said LeTourneau President Dale Lundsford. "It's about a building and a quality faculty and a staff."

The aviation center is named after LeTourneau alum, Paul Abbott and his wife. LeTourneau is the only FAA-approved air traffic control program offered at a college or university in the state of Texas.
