UT Health Center Approved Center for Free WTC Injury Screenings

Thousands of people volunteered their time and risked their lives in the World Trade Center rescue operation. Now, many of them are having health problems. And some are being sent to UT Health Center in Tyler for help. The center is giving free medical screenings for anyone who worked or volunteered around the Trade Center site. Some have suffered breathing and emotional problems after their service, and UTHC is the only provider of these "disaster-specific examinations" in the state of Texas.

Dr. Ellen Remenchik of UTHC says many people have been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other respiratory ailments.
