LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - It's designed to educate while bringing people of all backgrounds closer together. The third annual multicultural festival was held at the Longview fairgrounds expo-center today. Nearly 90 participants took part in the fest this year, with colorful costumes and cultural arts on display. For many who participate it's a celebration of the remarkable diversity in East Texas.

"Because in the community as diverse as this we must get to know each other very well and overlook our differences and see what's common in us as human beings," says Astha Bhandari, a native of Nepal, "We all have different culture different languages and its mostly sharing."

The festival is sponsored each year the city's council on race relations.
