LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - We couldn't catch too many people playing hooky in order to get an early afternoon view of the new Michael Jackson film "This Is It," but there were a few.

Fans still can't believe this is it and although they're not ready to say goodbye to the 'King of Pop,' they're excited to see him take the stage for one final farewell.

"Michael Jackson was one of the greatest entertainers who ever lived," said movie-goer Terell Benton. "I never got a chance to meet him. This is my way to pay tribute to him."

"It's all about the love of him being on the set and the family he created there," said fan Aaron Arnett, who has already seen the movie.

"I remember growing up, I had the white glove and everything," said mother Yolanda Quail who is excited to share the movie with her daughter, who is also a huge Jackson fan.

The Lufkin Mall 9 theatre manager hopes to sell out this weekend and says they're prepared with two auditoriums showing the flick.

"Fans of all ages from you know people that grew up with him to who, you know, just found out about him lately. We expect a good crowd," said manger Jose Torres.

To honor the entertainer, we asked fans to show off some of their favorite MJ moves, and they gave their best efforts.

Fans will continue to remember Jackson as a man of incredible talent, who changed the music industry forever.

"This Is It" offers one more look at the man in the mirror.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>

The last time we talked about the Kilgore Bulldogs, quarterback Buddy Jackson and wide receiver Jonathan Shepherd were apart of the 800-meter relay team that won gold at the 2017 state track meet. But today they are back in the pads, and looking to turn their speed into touchdowns.  Competing in District 9-4A, Kilgore has always had a strong run game that helped them become the 2016 District Champs.
