WINNSBORO, TX (KLTV) - Winnsboro High School Band Director Paul Bramlett is on paid, administrative leave, accused of having an improper, sexual relationship with a student.
The investigation has been going on for weeks. Superintendent Dr. Mark Bosold says the allegation was made by a male, sophomore student. He left the district about a week and a half ago.
Franklin County investigators say the alleged sexual assault did not happen in the band hall or on school property, but off campus. At this time, no formal charges or arrests have been made. He says, right now, it is just an accusation.
"It always impacts the community when the band director has to step aside, but hopefully it's a temporary situation," said Bosold. "And, I think they have a lot of faith in the band director...all the parents do, and I think the matter will be resolved and we can move on."
The superintendent says Mr. Bramlett passed both a background and fingerprint check before he was hired about three years ago. Franklin County Chief Investigator Chris Mars says he plans to present information to the D.A.'s office soon.
