EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - When it comes to keeping private property free from the government, a group of East Texans is saying, "PAC off, it's our land."

The Political Action Committee or PAC, has been formed to support Proposition 11 in the upcoming State Constitutional Amendment Election. The proposition would prevent mass condemnation of private properties, and would limit Congress on awarding power of eminent domain. If passed, leaders say it would continue to uphold compensation for owners when eminent domain is used and provide private property owners with increased rights.

"The foundation of our economy was built on protecting the rights of private property owners and it's essential that in our state, among all the states, we have it in our state's constitution," said Todd Staples, Texas Commissioner of Agriculture. "And, I think that is a critical component here the message needs to be sent loudly and clearly private property rights are important to Texans."

Early voting for the amendment ends October 30th. The State Constitutional Amendment Election is Tuesday, November 3rd.
