WINNSBORO, TX - The Winnsboro Fine Art Market, the first major art event since Winnsboro's designation as a Cultural Arts District, will take place November 7th and 8th in historic downtown Winnsboro. The event will feature local, regional and national artists who submitted images of their work to gain entrance into the event.  Artists will sell their works at booths lining Market and Elm Streets.  Continuous live musical entertainment will be on stage at the restored Train Depot.  A student art exhibit and children's activities will complete a weekend of fun.

Mary Smith, Chairperson of the event, commented, "I'm overwhelmed by the number and quality artists who are participating in this first year festival.  In addition to these talented artists, we have some very talented volunteers helping to make this event spectacular."

Kick-off for the Fine Art Market will be a Patrons' Reception on Friday, November 6th, at the newly completed Mineola Community Bank, Winnsboro Branch.  At the catered event, Dr. Gary Gibbs, Executive Director of the Texas Commission on the Arts, will officially announce the City's designation as one of the State's first seven Cultural Arts Districts.  This is a wonderful opportunity to mingle with the participating artists and support the arts community with an evening of fine food, music and entertainment.  Tickets to the Patrons' Reception are $40.00 and are available by calling The Winnsboro Gallery, 903-342-3438.

The only small city to receive the highly sought after Cultural Arts District designation, Winnsboro will take full advantage of the honor.  Nurturing the growing art community in the City is an opportunity to improve the quality of life for residents while adding to Winnsboro's draw as a tourist destination. The City Council has appointed an Arts District Council to hire and direct an Arts District Coordinator.  That person will coordinate and promote existing art events and programs while creating new ones.  Look for the City of Winnsboro to have an expanding calendar of music, visual and performing art activities.
